"I'm glad I gave up the time."
So I heard President Bush say on the news this morning regarding his testimony before the 9-11 Commission.
The Commission he didn't want at all. The Commission he wanted to make its report this spring despite their asking for a few more months. The Commission he didn't want to testify before at all. The Commission to which he said he'd give one hour of his time. The Commission to which he insisted, in the end, he'd only give unrecorded, unsworn testimony and that only if Vice-President Cheney were there with him. There was indication from one Commission member — a Democrat, I must note, in fairness — who seemed to have raised his eyebrows during some of the President's testimony. He wasn't specific, but he sure left that impression with me. But I'll bet there were no discrepancies between what the President had to say and what the Vice-President had to say. So Mr Bush is "glad" to have given up 3+ hours of his time?
He's "glad?"
"Glad?"
